HINT:
Use a Toyota genuine belt or an equivalent high strength belt when replacing the belt. If a high strength belt is not used, the durability of the belt may be insufficient. A high strength belt is reinforced with an aramid core and is stronger than the other belts with PET (polyester) or PEN (polyethylene naphthalate) core.

1. INSTALL FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT

A204110
  1. Install the V-ribbed belt.

  1. Turn the V-ribbed belt tensioner counterclockwise and remove the 5 mm bi-hexagon wrench.

2. INSTALL NO. 1 V (COOLER COMPRESSOR TO CRANKSHAFT PULLEY) BELT (w/ Air Conditioning System)

A192974
  1. Temporarily install the No. 1 V belt onto each pulley.

    NOTICE:
    1. Before installing the V belt, check each pulley for any liquid or chips.
    1. Check that the ribs of the V belt are correctly fitted into the grooves of the pulleys.

3. ADJUST NO. 1 V (COOLER COMPRESSOR TO CRANKSHAFT PULLEY) BELT (w/ Air Conditioning System)

A198353E01
  1. Turn the bolt B to adjust the tension of V-ribbed belt.

  1. Tighten bolt A.

    Torque:
    44 N*m{ 449 kgf*cm , 33 ft.*lbf }

4. INSPECT FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT

B000543
  1. Check the belt for wear, cracks or other signs of damage.
If any of the following defects is found, replace the V belt.

    HINT:
    1. The belt is cracked.
    2. The belt is worn out to the extent that the cords are exposed.
    3. The belt has chunks missing from the ribs.

    B075171E01
  1. Check that the belt fits properly in the ribbed grooves.

    HINT:
Check with your hand to confirm that the belt has not slipped out of the grooves on the bottom of the pulley. If it has slipped out, replace the V belt. Install a new V belt correctly.

5. INSPECT NO. 1 V BELT DEFLECTION AND TENSION (w/ Air Conditioning System)

B000543
  1. Check the belt for wear, cracks or other signs of damage.
If any of the following defects is found, replace the V belt.

    HINT:
    1. The belt is cracked.
    2. The belt is worn out to the extent that the cords are exposed.
    3. The belt has chunks missing from the ribs.
